This post is part of our Reluctant Social Media Manager series, support for those of us who want measurable social media results with the least amount of effort.
This year has been full of excitement for Design Theory, and this summer is no exception. Earlier this year we launched new services including Managed Hosting, Social Media Management, and the profitable sales tool Automated Virtual Chat.
We’re pleased to announce that starting this summer we will be providing Facebook Training Classes for the Orlando area. We’ve developed a curriculum that will take any Facebook Business Page manager from novice to expert. Our classes cover all of the basics – setting up and managing a Facebook Page, Facebook Best Practices, and Advertising. We’ll go into some advanced topics such as: Managing Ads, Campaign Optimization, Targeting and Insights.
In February I provided a talk on Facebook advertising at WordCamp Miami (you can watch it here) and the response was overwhelming. I was flooded with so many questions after the session, that I realized there is a need for classroom style Facebook training. There are tons of resources online to help you learn how to leverage Facebook for your business, but if you’re like me – there’s nothing like having someone sit with you and work on your own website.
Our classes are designed to be hands on, lab-style. Our students will bring their own machines and log into their own Facebook Pages with me right there in the room guiding them each step of the way. Our first classes will be held later this summer. Click here to join our waitlist and receive a discount on your first class.

Installing a new plugin for your WordPress site can be done in just a few minutes. You can either upload one from your computer that you’ve downloaded or search the WordPress repository for the plugin you’re looking to install directly to your website.
Follow the instructions in this video to install and activate your new plugin. If you have more questions or need help, be sure to add a comment below or visit our Contact page for support and we’d be happy to help.
In this short video, we show you how to quickly create a new web page from your WordPress dashboard. Once you’re logged in to your Dashboard, creating pages is really easy. You’ll select from the menu list on the left and choose “Pages” then “Add New” and you’ll be on your way to creating your page title, adding your content, and any images or graphics that will coincide with the new page to then publish it.
Have you ever created a featured blog post, or a really important post that you want your visitors to see and read first before viewing the other posts you’ve written recently? Well there’s actually a built in way from within your post options to make a post “sticky.” No need for any additional plugins.
If you open up your blog post that you’ve already published, and look to the top right PUBLISH box, and click the “Edit” button where it says “Visibility: Public” and from there you’ll see a selection box for “Stick this post to the front page” Check out the quick video below to see it in action.
Hello all, I wanted to share this quick video on how to get the embed code to be able to show your live Blab show on your website or post. If you’re not familiar with Blab, it is a live forum for up to four people to using video to discuss a subject while using Twitter on the right to chat and engage. It’s really new and really cool. I’ve been on a few Blab as a participant over the past few weeks, and each Tuesday I am on with Bess Auer of Gotta Get Blogging for what we call #BlogTalkTuesday, where we discuss all things trending in social media, marketing, events, and more. Here is a link to our next show.
Recently I decided to make my client photos available via Flickr and private Albums/Groups for my customers. The reason for doing this is so that I can have an online viewing location for my photography clients to easily view all of their photos from recent shoots or events, and then select the ones they like the best for their albums and other products.
It took a little playing around to figure out how to make it work with just a few steps, but overall I’d say it’s worth the effort on the photographer’s end to present a mass number of photos online without paying for storage or a monthly fee. One of the main benefits of Flickr is having about a Terabyte of space for free. Essentially you could just about use Flickr as a free online backup for your photos.
Anyways I created a short video on how to do just that. Once you’ve selected your favorite photos, you can view them all by hitting the drop down you’ll be taken to view your Favorite pictures. The video takes it up from there.
