Photo Friday: Grey and Beautiful

Photo Friday: Grey and Beautiful

I recently did a shoot at the Edgewater Hotel in Winter Garden and one of my favorite photos was from the mother of a young actor/model. Reason why is because she was only there for her son and didn’t think she’d be a good model to shoot. What stood out for me was her hair and her eyes. You’ll see in the photo why. I’m glad she wasn’t too reluctant and allowed me to shoot her, and here it is.

Wynwood Walls Miami: My First Visit as a Photographer

Wynwood Walls Miami: My First Visit as a Photographer

Last month on the first week of December I made a trip down to Miami for Art Basel. I’ll write a post about my experience with that soon, but what I wanted to show was some of what I shot of the Wynwood Walls area not far from Miami Beach.

During the week of Art Basel, there were a lot of street artists in the area that were painting murals on the sides of buildings for this event. Hundreds of thousands of visitors come to Miami each year for Art Basel and all the other happenings and let me tell you they didn’t disappoint. If you ever get a chance to visit, I highly encourage it. And also speak to the artists, they are actually really approachable!

What I Learned in Real Estate Photography Shooting My First House

What I Learned in Real Estate Photography Shooting My First House

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
This week I shot my first house in terms of real estate photography. This is something slightly new for me because a few months ago I shot a 2b/1.5b condo. This is a new area that I’d like to add to my portfolio as well as list of photography services that I can provide. I was working with a local realtor that I have met a few times around my neighborhood. And in talking to her is how this opportunity came up.

For me lighting is everything when I’m shooting, and I brought along my wife who’s my technical director. She sees the objects, misplaced items, coordination of objects, and so much more so I’d say we’re a good team.

One thing that I wanted to mention is that this house was staged rather nicely. There wasn’t any clutter of objects or things around the floors or counters. It was like a house just done by HGTV.

The Tech Breakdown:

  • Nikon D3200
  • Sigma 17-70 2.8 Lens
  • 3 Speedlights
  • 1 150w Strobe
  • An 11mm super wide lens is the next purchase I’ll be making!

You’ll be able to see for yourself my results after editing. Your comments are of course welcomed!

Festival of Speed – Ritz Carlton December 2013

Last weekend I went out with a few of my friends to the Ritz Carlton for the annual Festival of Speed car show. If you’re not familiar with it, think high-end expensive cars all over the back yard of a hotel. Sprinkle in some concepts, classic Chevrolet’s and Fords, and a few bikes and a few tall models and you’ve got a pretty interesting afternoon. Take a look at some of the shots below and see for yourself.

[REVIEW] Photoshop World Orlando 2013

In April I attended the Photoshop World Expo here in Orlando, FL in April. There were so many people in attendance it was crazy. I ran into a few people I knew locally, but met a whole bunch more from all around the US. This was my first time ever attending a Photoshop World Expo, so I was like a kid in a candy store.

For those of you who have never attended the full expo, here’s what goes down. It is a few days of full day workshops led by some well-known industry leaders in photography and Photoshop. The last two days is the expo part, and that is where all the vendors are, real demos from experts, speakers, and even some hands on experiences from various software manufacturers.

Perfect Photo Suite Demo

Getting to see the vendors actually using some of the famed software like Photoshop CS6 or Perfect Photo Suite 7 was pretty cool. I ended up buying some software right on the spot convinced I’ll be able to replicate the effects they showed that day.

One of the apparent fan favorites is the free model shoot you can just walk up to and shoot with whatever camera you happen to bring with you that day. This theme was of a young blonde dressed in a nice aviator outfit accompanied with an aviation background. There were two constant light setups to both sides of her.
